The Arts Factory Village was the focal point, even the birthplace of much of the fame and spirit of Byron. It began as an actual Piggery in 1898, then in the early 70's, many local, as well as international artists, hippies and alternate life-stylers turned it into a creative "Arts Factory". In the very early 80's, this group, aided by a virtual army of like-minded souls, created a nationally acclaimed, and internationally recognised Rock'N'Roll venue.
The Arts Factory was the birthplace of the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and is now home to a diverse range of businesses offering a unique selection of accommodation, food, entertainment, arts, health & well-being. The Arts Factory has been under new ownership and management for the past 13 months and has seen a few developments over this time. Because of these recent developments, we have decided to open the Village for visitors to explore and experience the faclilties and products that the Arts Factory has to offer.
The Open Day will be held from midday to midnight on Saturday, 15th August 2009. We plan to hold a variety of workshops and activities throughout the day including a Guiness World Record attempt for the most people fire twirling. There will also be a range of live music held between the indoor and outdoor entertainment facilities at the Buddha Bar and Restaurant.
If you would like to participate in setting a Firetwirling world record please contact angie@artsfactory.com.au. We a looking for as many firetwirlers as possible so come out and be a part of something big!
