Byron Bay

Byron Bay is the most easterly point in Australia and has a modern,  bohemian and cultural lifestyle. Hippies, surfers, trendies, world travellers and locals enjoy what Byron has to offer today. One hour from Coolongatta Airport and two hours from Brisbane Airport Byron is only a short drive from either.

Byron Bay was first sighted by Captain Cook in 1770 and has a long  history of industry up until recently. Firstly starting with logging cedar trees, then dairy and farming when a huge jetty was built on the main beach, then the pig industry(coincedentally the Arts Factory Village used to be a Piggery) and finally a sad history of hunting Humpback Whales.

Byron is also of major significance to local Indigenous Arakwal Tribe. The Cape Byron Headland Reserve works in conjunction with them to preserve one of the mangnificant headlands in Australia, if not the world. Today instead of whales being hunted the are watched by locals and tourists alike.

Byron's major industry today is tourism based and home to major  events such as The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, The Taste of Byron, The Winter Whales Ocean Swim, The Writers Festival, The Byron Bay Triathlon and The Splendour in the Grass Music Festival.

Byron also has pristine, beautiful and world class beaches, an average temperature of 28 degrees celcius in Summer and 22 degrees celcius in Winter. There are unlimited local activities include relaxing on beaches, surfing, excellent scuba diving, dolphin kayaking, flying trapeze, going to art exhibitions, seeing live music or even taking a day trip to Nimbin.

Byron has so much to offer you'll come for two days and end up staying for a week.

We hope to see you soon!
